MY THOUGHTS

This was so much fun! It was exactly the kind of book I needed. I recently read two pretty emotional books, so this was a much needed change of pace. I loved the fact that it's a sci-fi legal thriller. I've never seen those two genres combined, but it worked so well. I'd definitely like to read more books like this.

Maxine was a great character. Not perfect in the slightest, but realistically flawed. She also had the absolute worst luck ever. If something could go wrong, it would most definitely go wrong for her. She just couldn't seem to catch a break and would find herself in one mess right after another. I also really liked Kenji and Singh a lot too.

This was the kind of book that was hard to put down, but when I had to set it aside for real life things, it was always on my mind. There were lots of surprises. I never knew what would happen next. There was one thing that I probably should've seen coming, but I was absolutely stunned by it. And the ending? My emotions were all over the place! I'm adding Daniel Schwabauer to my autobuy list. This is one of the best books I've read this year.

MY THOUGHTS

This book was so good. I was super excited about this new installment in one of my favorite series. It did not disappoint. It's just as good as I remember the previous ones being. It's been a few years since I read book three, but I was able to dive right back in. Didn't miss a beat at all. I loved seeing what Olivia, Grant, Pastor Dan, and Nina Marie were up to now.

The ultimate fight between good and evil is still going on in Windy Ridge. A new church has moved into town and become quite popular, all the while preaching false doctrine. It seems rather convenient that the Windy Ridge Community Church burns to the ground in an apparent arson attack and their new members start flocking to this new church. Could there be something sinister going on with this new church? Could they be behind the arson? But we can't forget about Optimism, the New Age company that's been out to get the church for years. Is the culprit an old foe or a new enemy, a wolf in sheep's clothing?

I was glued to the pages, desperate to figure out what was going on. The spiritual battles were gripping and intense. It's a very timely and important read that I highly recommend. Start with book one and you'll be hooked. This book wraps up nicely, but I really hope there are more stories to come. I love these characters and am so invested in the fight for Windy Ridge.

My Thoughts

“Finding truth in a fake news world.”

Flight Risk is the first full-length book I've read by Cara Putman and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's quite a thrilling read full of twists and turns that I didn't see coming.

Jett Glover takes pride in his work as a journalist. He's meticulous in his research and never puts out a piece unless he's 100% sure it's the truth. He knows what it's like to be on the other side of an article full of falsehoods and the devastating consequences that can follow. But when his new article about high profile men involved in human trafficking breaks, tragedy ensues and he's left questioning everything.

Attorney Savannah Daniels gets wrapped up in Jett's story because her ex-husband is one of the guys in the article. Then, she finds out that one of the cases she's working on could possibly be connected to a plane crash that had some of those high profile men on it, one of them being her ex. To protect her niece and find out what's really going on, she teams up with the pesky reporter to discover the truth.

I had a great time reading this book and trying to figure out how everything was connected and what was fact or fiction. It certainly kept me guessing. I'm excited to check out more of this author's work.

My Thoughts

I've loved this entire series so much! I read all three books back-to-back which is something I never do. I usually have to take a break and change things up for a little while then I'll get back to a series. That wasn't the case with Windy Ridge though. I've not been this invested in a series in a really long time.

Surrounded by Darkness is book three in the Windy Ridge Legal Thriller series. I'd definitely recommend starting with book one. There's a lot of history and backstory that you don't want to miss out on.

Scarier than the previous books, at least for me, I literally couldn't read fast enough. Everything seemed to be going wrong and the stakes felt higher. It was a thrill ride from page one and my favorite of the series. I'm really hoping there's gonna be another book, things are definitely left open for more! Highly recommended!

My Thoughts

Fatal Accusation is book two in the Windy Ridge Legal Thriller series. It picks up a couple months after the end of the first book and was just as thrilling. It was nearly impossible to put down and when I did have to set it aside for 'real life' things, it was constantly on my mind.

I really enjoy Rachel Dylan's writing style. She's got a way of pulling me right into a story and keeping me completely hooked til the end.

I'm really loving this series. The spiritual battles along with the legal drama has really captured my full attention. I can't get enough of it. I'm so glad that book three is out because I'm headed off to start reading it right now. Highly, highly recommended!

My Thoughts

Olivia Murray has a huge task to undertake – representing a New Age company that's being sued by a rival. Sounds routine, but much more is going on than first meets the eye. A battle rages. A battle between good and evil, angels and demons, is being waged and Olivia is right in the middle of it all.

I was extremely intrigued by the idea of this book. I wondered how combining a legal thriller with spiritual warfare would turn out. Well, it turned out to be an awesome, heart-pounding, unputdownable thrill ride. There was seriously no good place to stop and I'd often find myself reading at a feverish pace to find out what happened next.

It was really interesting learning about the legal side of things but the addition of the spiritual warfare element really kicked things up a notch, making this a must read. I highly recommend this book and am very eager to start the next one!

Why I Need It

Deadly Proof, book one in this series, was the first time I'd read any kind of legal thriller and I really enjoyed it. I've been looking forward to Lone Witness ever since I finished Deadly Proof.

Five Stars

Deadly Proof was my first time reading anything by Rachel Dylan and... wow!... was it good or what? When I first heard about it, I was instantly intrigued and knew I had to read it. It did not disappoint! I was hooked from the first chapter and never wanted to put it down. The action and suspense continually progressed and by the end, I could not read fast enough. At one point, I found myself literally gasping for breath. There were lots of twist, turns, and shocking surprises. It definitely kept me guessing.

Kate's a super strong and powerful attorney who's fighting for the underdog, the innocent victims. It's not about the money for her, she genuinely wants to help people. She's very relatable and easy to like. Landon's protective and extremely thorough with his job. He's got some demons, but is actively working to become a better person.

It was very interesting to get an inside look at corporate law and learn some of the ins and outs. Dylan did a great job at explaining all the legal terminology without it being clunky or sounding out of place. I really enjoyed getting to see both sides of the case. While it was mostly from Kate's side, there was also a peek at the opposing counsel.

I haven't read many legal thrillers, but after absolutely loving this one, I can't wait to check more out. And I'm definitely going to check out Dylan's other books. I can't recommend this book enough and I can't wait for the next one!
