Review: The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis

About the Book

The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis is a classic masterpiece of religious satire that entertains readers with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below." At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters is the most engaging account of temptation—and triumph over it—ever written.

My Thoughts

This was the first time I had read The Screwtape Letters and I'm wondering why it took me so long to get to it. It's so good and such a thought-provoking read. There's so many great insights in how the enemy tries to get to us, tries to manipulate us.

It's amazing how this book, written in the 1940s, is still so relevant today. And will continue to stay relevant. But I guess that's what makes it such a classic.

There's really not much more I can say about this masterpiece that hasn't already been said before. I know I'll be coming back to it again and again and recommending it to everyone I know.

Five Stars

  1. I started these once when I was in high school, then got busy with other things and never finished them. I should probably give them another read and actually finish them this time around. Because Lewis is such a good writer. :)

    1. This was actually the first thing I've read by Lewis. It was so good, so I'm excited to read more of his stuff soon, hopefully. I hope you enjoy this one if you get a chance to read it. :)
