This week I'm featuring The Land Beneath Us (Sunrise at Normandy #3) by Sarah Sundin.
About the Book
In 1943, Private Clay Paxton trains hard with the US Army Rangers at Camp Forrest, Tennessee, determined to do his best in the upcoming Allied invasion of France. With his future stolen by his brothers' betrayal, Clay has only one thing to live for--fulfilling the recurring dream of his death.
Leah Jones works as a librarian at Camp Forrest, longing to rise above her orphanage upbringing and belong to the community, even as she uses her spare time to search for her real family--the baby sisters she was separated from so long ago.
After Clay saves Leah's life from a brutal attack, he saves her virtue with a marriage of convenience. When he ships out to train in England for D-day, their letters bind them together over the distance. But can a love strong enough to overcome death grow between them before Clay's recurring dream comes true?

Book Beginning
Most men woke in a cold sweat when they dreamed of their own deaths, but not Private Clay Paxton.
Friday 56
Down the length of the room, Frank Lyons met Clay's gaze without smiling, and a chill ran through Clay. Something about that man. Nothing definitive to report to Rudder, just a needling suspicion.

Tomorrow is Leap Year. Name one book being released in 2020 that you would prefer to skip.
I don't know. I can't think of a book I'd like to skip. Although, I can think of way too many that I would love to have.
What have you been reading lately?
Oooh, these snippets sound great! I love that opening. Definitely has me wondering about the good Private. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Friday post.
Thanks for coming by, Sammie! Happy reading! :)
DeleteThat cover. Doesn't it just take you there to the white cliffs of Dover? Have a lovely weekend. My Friday quotes from Red at the Bone
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! Hope you had a great weekend, Anne! :)
DeleteI love Sundin's stories!!! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteShe's the best! Thanks for stopping by, Freda! :)
DeleteI don't keep track of the books I don't want to read, only the ones I do. :D And The Land Beneath Us sounds like one I'd like.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way. Anytime I see a book that doesn't interest me, I'll automatically forget about it. Happy reading, Lark! :)
DeleteIt seems like a lot of people had a hard time with this week's topic! I don't really keep track of the books I don't want to read either.
ReplyDeleteMe either. They just don't stick in my mind. Thanks for visiting, Tracy! :)
DeleteHope you enjoy your historical tale!
ReplyDeleteIt was great! Thanks for stopping by, Nicki! :)
DeleteI want to read this.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good one! Thanks for the visit! :)
DeleteI have become a very picky reader - hence my low number of DNFs - so rather than any particular 2020 release that I'd avoid reading this year, there will be whole genres and hundreds of books. Now if this had been a question of upcoming releases that I wanted ... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, Ashley.
Here's my BBH Post
Flora x
