MY THOUGHTS

Did I immediately start reading this as soon as I received it? Absolutely! Did I miss some sleep to do so? You bet! And I have absolutely no regrets.

Janushek is one of my favorite characters from the Secrets of Ormdale series, so I was ecstatic for this short story. It did not disappoint. I loved getting to know him better and seeing things from his perspective. And I adored the romance. It was so sweet!

This short story packed a big punch. It’s a must-read for fans of the Secrets of Ormdale series. Be sure to read it after completing the series, though.

MY THOUGHTS

I loved Water Horse, the first book in this series, so I was really looking forward to this sequel. While it did take me a little bit to get into, I ended up really enjoying it.

I loved catching up with old characters and meeting new ones. Shufen was fierce and strong. I really admired her quest to rescue girls who were in horrible situations. Jack was rough around the edges but extremely likable. They made for a mismatched and often antagonistic team, yet they worked so well together! They made a great team, and I loved watching them fall for each other.

I’m not usually drawn to westerns, but I love this series. The combination of the historical setting and the fantasy elements really works here.

While the whole book was exciting, the second half really ramped up the action and had me flying through the pages.

I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone looking for exciting historical fantasy. I’d recommend reading Water Horse first. Even though this story focuses on two different characters, the stories are very much connected.

Note: While this is a clean romance, there is a fair amount of strong language.

MY THOUGHTS

I loved this book! I had very high expectations because of how much I adored the first book in the series. I'm happy to say that this book exceeded all my expectations.

After her father’s death, Eva is struggling and overwhelmed as she tries to take care of the family’s estate and her younger sister. The financial situation is looking dire, and she’s getting anxious for a solution.

With his uncle’s job on the line, Bram is on a mission to help him find proof of a lost refuge for Christians who were persecuted by the Roman Empire. Could Eva’s land hold the key?

This book is full of so many wonderful and likeable characters. Eva had a lot on her plate, but I loved her determination and strength. I also loved the bond that she had with her sister Penny. Penny was so resilient and such a bright light.

It was easy to fall for Bram. He was quite the charmer but had a good heart. I loved his uncle and how he looked out for him.

Archaeology has always fascinated me, so I really enjoyed that aspect of this book. I also really enjoyed the Victorian setting. That’s one of my favorite time periods.

I was fully engaged with the story from beginning to end. I loved it! I highly recommend it to fans of sweet and intriguing historical romances.

MY THOUGHTS

“Engagements are lethal creatures.”

I had a blast reading this historical mystery. I loved the time period, and I really enjoyed the setting of the airship. It gave the story a bit of a steampunk vibe, which I loved.

I liked that the story was told from both Cora and Nicholas’ points of view. While there were a few times in the middle of a chapter that I forgot who was narrating it, I figured it out again fairly quickly, so it didn't bother me too much.

I really liked Cora and Nicholas, but I think Ophelia was my favorite character. She had such a vibrant and fun personality. She certainly kept things lively!

The mystery was very intriguing. It definitely kept me guessing! I ended up being very surprised by the reveal.

I really enjoyed this book and hope there’s a sequel! I’d love to revisit these characters again. If you’re a fan of historical mysteries, grab a copy of this book. I highly recommend it.

MY THOUGHTS

I always look forward to a new book from Sarah Sundin. Nobody does WWII romance quite like her! This story was great! While it took me a little bit to get into, it wasn't long before I was completely invested and wondering what was going to happen next.

To escape the Nazis, Cilla decided to become a Nazi spy. It was quite the bold plan, though things didn’t exactly go the way Cilla expected. I will say that Cilla wasn’t the most likable character in the beginning, but I loved seeing her journey and watching her continual growth, and by the end, I did end up really liking her.

Lachlan was a fastidious and serious rule follower. He was the complete opposite of Cilla. They got off to a very rocky start, but I loved their banter. And, despite their differences, they made a great team.

I didn’t really know much about Scotland during the war, so that was fascinating to read about. I also enjoyed reading about all the spycraft. The invisible ink, the coded messages, the double crosses. It was all so exciting!

If you’re looking for an inspirational WWII romance that’s full of intrigue, grab a copy of this book. I highly recommend it.
