My Thoughts
I loved Oath of Honor, the first book in this series, and couldn't wait to dive into the second one. I didn't know if it could possibly be as good as the first one, but I had no need to worry. It definitely is! It's an intense nail-biter from the very first page. It had my anxiety high and my heart racing.
Dealing with the serious topic of human trafficking, Called to Protect is a compelling, heart wrenching, and hard to put down read. It's disturbing to think that what happens in this book is actually happening all over the world right now. It wasn't always an easy read, but it's an important one. I appreciate books that shine a light on these heinous crimes.
One of my favorite aspects of this story was the relationship between Chloe and her K-9 partner Hank. The amount of trust they had in each other was awesome. It just reiterated how amazing those dogs are.

It was great being back with the St. John family and even though this is book two in the series, it stands alone just fine. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys heart-pounding suspense. I can't wait for the next one!

This series does sound good! (Mostly because of the dog.) Have you read Margaret Mizushima's Timber Creek mystery series? She's got an awesome cop/K-9 partnership in her books, too. The dog, Robo, is my favorite character in that series. :)
