Book Beginnings + Friday 56: Attempt to Locate (Lantern Beach P.D. #2) by Christy Barritt

Book Beginnings is a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader that asks you to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you're reading. Friday 56 is hosted by Freda's Voice and asks you to grab a book (any book), turn to page 56 or 56% in your ereader and share a non-spoilery sentence or two.

This week I'm featuring Attempt to Locate (Lantern Beach P.D. #2) by Christy Barritt. It amazes me how quickly Ms. Barritt can write and release consistently great mysteries. She's been releasing a new book every month which I've really enjoyed. It's nice not having to wait forever for the next book in a favorite series. Attempt to Locate is her newest release set in Lantern Beach and it's so good!

About the Book
A deadly trio of robbers. A missing woman. A community in crisis.

A fun girls’ night out turns into a nightmare when armed robbers barge into the store where Cassidy and her friends are shopping. As the situation escalates and the men escape, a massive manhunt launches on Lantern Beach to apprehend the dangerous trio.

In the midst of the chaos, a potential foe asks for Cassidy’s help. He needs to find his sister who fled from the secretive Gilead’s Cove community on the island. But the more Cassidy learns about the seemingly untouchable group, the more her unease grows.

The pressure to solve both cases continues to mount. But as the gravity of the situation rises, so does the danger. Cassidy is determined to protect the island and break up the cult . . . but doing so might cost her everything.

***Attempt to Locate is the second book in the new Lantern Beach P.D. series. Each novel contains a standalone mystery, but several overarching mysteries stretch throughout the entire series.***

Book Beginning
"Moriah, it's time."
Moriah Roberts stood from the stiff bed nestled on the side of her assigned RV and straightened the tunic she wore. A slight tremble raked through her limbs as she tried to comprehend the scope of what was about to happen.

Friday 56
Why did he feel like someone was watching them? No one was visible right now. Yet Ty couldn't help but think unseen eyes surveilled their every move.
