Book Beginnings is a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader that asks you to share the first sentence (or so) of the book you're reading, along with your initial thoughts/impressions.
This week I'm featuring The Matchmaking Game by Donna Hatch
Rowena Emerson studied her longtime friend, Evan Barnes, and tried to judge by his expression if he'd be game for a new scheme. It was hard to tell; he had come home from the war a mysterious stranger, with only glimpses of his former playful self who had always been ready for a new lark, no matter how madcap.
My Thoughts:
Oooh, this is gonna be good! I wonder what kind of scheme Rowena's gonna come up with and if Evan will go along with it.
What's the first line (or so) of the book you're currently reading? Leave a comment and let me know.
Here's the first line of the book I just started......"Charlotte McGregor pressed the last tomato seedling into the dark earth and knew with a soul-deep conviction that this garden was going to prove, once and for all, that she knew exactly what she was doing with her life."
ReplyDeleteDo you know what book? 😁
Oooh! Spring’s Blessing, the first novella in the collection 'Romance Grows in Arcadia Valley'! I loved it! Hope you do, too!
