Can't Wait Wednesday: A Deal with a Debutante (London's Most Eligible Book #1) by Chelsea Bobulski

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings that spotlights and discusses the books we're excited about that we've yet to read. Generally, they're books that are yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This week I'm featuring A Deal with a Debutante (London's Most Eligible Book #1) by Chelsea Bobulski releasing April 7.

About the Book
She's running from London's marriage mart. He's running out of time to save his estate. Neither planned on falling in love--but their hearts have other plans.

American heiress Calliope Hart is thrust into London's high society against her will, all because her mother is determined to marry her off to an aristocrat. Despite being named "the debutante of the season" back in New York, Calliope wants nothing more than to avoid becoming another pawn in the social game.

Edward Chase, the Earl of Hayward, is on the brink of financial ruin. To save his estate, he must marry, and Calliope Hart is his last hope. When he boldly declares his intentions, she swiftly rejects him, making it clear she has no interest in marrying for convenience. Undeterred, Edward offers a deal: He will escort Calliope to all the best sights of London that she's been dying to see if she agrees to visit his estate and consider what they could accomplish together.

What begins as a business arrangement soon sparks something much more complicated--an undeniable chemistry neither can ignore. But as their hearts begin to soften, both must confront their fears: Can Calliope trust Edward with her heart, and can Edward truly win her love when she's convinced he only wants her fortune?

"A delightful love story brimming with wit, humor, and heart!"--Megan Walker, author of Lakeshire Park

"This book captures the very essence of romance--where love, once found, becomes life's greatest reward."--Laura Beer, award-winning author of An Improbable Scheme

A no-spice, clean and wholesome historical romance with a delightful mix of witty banter and charming romance set in Edwardian England. Read if you like the marriage of convenience, enemies-to-lovers, and he-falls-first tropes, Alexandra Vasti, Evie Dunmore, Sophie Irwin, and Martha Waters.

Review: Raging Waters (Elements of Danger Book #2) by Dana Mentink

SYNOPSIS
As the dam crumbles and water sweeps across the terrain, their battle for justice and survival is just beginning.

When Mackenzie Bardine's brother Aaron was murdered in a drug deal gone wrong, she started a true crime podcast dedicated to exposing "Bullseye," the drug kingpin responsible. But her protective heart has never let go of the blame she places on herself and Aaron's best friend, Gideon Landry. On the run to the wilds of Washington to chase a recent lead, she meets none other than Gideon himself.

While conducting a wilderness survival class in remote Washington, Gideon never expected to cross paths with Mackenzie, and he's certainly not interested in helping her after he's already declined to participate in her vigilante podcasting. He carries a mountain of guilt about Aaron's fatal choices, but not for the reasons Mackenzie suspects.

As killers begin to circle Mackenzie like sharks, it's clear to Gideon she's in over her head, and in light of his troubled past with her brother, he can't bring himself to ignore her perilous situation. Then a flood threatens the town, turning their investigation into a race to escape the raging waters and the wrath of a powerful kingpin who wants to sink them both.

A gripping, clean romantic suspense featuring enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance, and high-stakes investigations set in small-town Washington, sweeping readers away on a turbulent wave of thrills and chills. Perfect for fans of forced proximity, wilderness survival, protective heroes, and justice-driven heroines.

MY THOUGHTS

I really enjoyed this action-packed adventure. The excitement started right off the bat and continued to climb until the climactic ending. Facing danger from the elements and ruthless drug traffickers, and with trouble coming at the characters from all sides, this book was near impossible to put down.

I instantly liked Gideon, but it took a little while to warm up to Mackenzie. She was kinda abrasive and stubborn. But they had amazing chemistry, even when they weren’t getting along. And, I will say that I enjoyed seeing the growth Mackenzie went through. She had an amazing transformation. I really liked her by the end of the story.

This riveting suspense had lots of twists and turns that will keep you guessing. The characters found themselves in some seriously dire situations, many of which I had no idea how they’d get out of. If you’re a fan of edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense, don’t hesitate to pick up a copy of this book. You’ll love it! I highly recommend it!

Review: Beastly Dreams by Gabrielle Landi

SYNOPSIS
A grumpy tavern owner, his sunshine barmaid, and the curse that traps them together.

Running his grandfather's tavern is all Roan ever wanted--though the failing budget wasn't part of the dream. But when a rogue sorcerer curses him, sending everyone into a magical sleep except Roan, his too-cheerful barmaid, and his loyal dog, his priorities shift fast: break the curse before he loses everything.

Abigail has never felt safer than she does at the Lucky Goat, despite how miserable Roan is at times, and she'll do anything to keep her found home intact. At first, an opportunity to tackle the never ending to-do list without distractions seems almost like a blessing, but the pressure of hiding her own magic--and pretending she isn't falling for her grumpy boss--is a whole different kind of trouble,.

Trapped together in the tavern, Roan and Abigail begin to discover that opposites attract...but when the magic unravels, will breaking the curse also break the spark between them?

Torn from one fairytale and trapped in another: the Displaced Fairytales series is a multi-author fairy tale retelling series of standalones from your favorite clean and closed-door young adult romance authors. BEASTLY DREAMS is Beauty and the Beast meets Sleeping Beauty with clean and wholesome forced proximity, a grumpy sunshine boss romance, and an adorable dog companion.

MY THOUGHTS

This was a really sweet, quick read. It’s a mashup of Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast. I love those fairytales, so I was very intrigued to see them intertwined. I thought it was really well done! I really enjoyed it.

Abigail was cheerful and likable, the perfect foil to grumpy Roan. Roan wasn’t the most likable of characters, but his growth from the beginning of the story to the end was great to see. And I absolutely adored his dog Beastie.

While this book is set in Galamere, the world where the author’s other books are set, it can stand alone perfectly fine. I did enjoy seeing the cameos from characters from her previous books, but don’t worry if you haven’t read those stories yet. I highly recommend this book to fans of closed-door fairytale retellings. I can’t wait to see what this author writes next!

Review: Long Trail Home (Wagon Train Matches Book 9) by Lacy Williams

About the Book
All roads lead home in the dramatic conclusion to one family’s journey of love, sacrifice, and survival.

Since the moment he saw her, Coop Spencer has been single-minded in his quest to protect Belle. She’s running from something—someone—and he’s never met anyone so scared. When the wagon master forces an ultimatum: a marriage or Belle is expelled from the wagon train, Coop makes the only choice he can. He’ll do everything in his power to prove he's the kind of man she can trust. But overcoming the mistakes of his past may prove too much...

Belle knows that the danger she escaped is still out there, still hunting her. Experience has taught her that she can't rely on anyone, not even the man who promised their marriage was in name only.

As they traverse the Oregon Trail together, Belle is taken in by Coop’s big family, and the more time she spends with her temporary husband and his siblings, the more she starts to long for something she'd forgotten ages ago: home.

When danger closes in, one of them must sacrifice everything for love...
  • Forced marriage of convenience
  • Redemption
  • Family saga
  • Heroine with a dark past/sworn off men

MY THOUGHTS

This was a really sweet story and a great conclusion to this series. I don’t read many marriage of convenience stories, nor many westerns, but that needs to change! I really enjoyed this!

I really felt for Belle. She’d been through a lot. There was a lot of trauma in her past, to say the least. But I loved seeing her growth, and I loved seeing her learn to trust. I liked Coop a lot. I loved how protective and kind he was to Belle.

This was an exciting read. There were high stakes and danger and a swoony romance, to boot. Even though this is the conclusion to the series, it can still stand alone. Although it would be helpful to start at the beginning to understand the characters and their circumstances a little better. If you’re a fan of faith-filled historical romances, check it out. I think you’ll really enjoy it!

Review: The Not-So-Neutral Zone by Susan May Warren & Sarah May Warren

About the Book
One perfect day in Barcelona. One kiss that changed everything. One goodbye that broke my heart.

I've always been the overlooked sister, the forgotten friend, the girl in the background of everyone else's love story. But when a handsome stranger rescued my purse—and then my entire day—I dared to believe my story might finally be starting.

Then he vanished. No explanation. No phone number. Not even a last name.

Classic.

Fast forward to six months later, when I discover my mystery man is Brody "Candy" Kane—NHL golden boy, my sister's fiancé's teammate—and he needs a favor. As in, a girlfriend to keep his reputation in good shape while he skates into a new contract. And frankly? I wouldn't mind a date to my sister's over-the-top wedding.

The deal: Fake date through wedding season. Break up at the end. No harm, no foul.

The rules: Fake smiles for the cameras. Fake hand-holding for the fans. Absolutely, positively, no falling for each other for real.

The problem: The chemistry that sparked in Barcelona? Never actually went away. And pretending to be in love with someone you're already halfway in love with?

Terrible idea. 0/10. Would not recommend.

A swoony Christian romance about second chances, hidden identities, and discovering that the one man you shouldn't want might be exactly who you need. Fans of Emma St. Clair, Jenny Proctor, and Courtney Walsh will love this sweet and clean, fake dating rom-com with all the banter and none of the spice.

MY THOUGHTS

Y’all! This was such a fun read! It had me laughing out loud in spots and emotional and teary-eyed in others. I absolutely adored it.

The fake dating trope is always hit or miss for me. I either love it or can’t stand it. But it worked so well in this story!

I loved Brody and Chloe. They had amazing chemistry right from the get-go. I loved their playful banter and camaraderie. They were great together. There were some definite bumps along the way. Big bumps. Some that seemed insurmountable. Some that I didn’t know how they’d overcome. But I loved seeing them work through things.

This felt like one of those rom-com movies that I loved so much in the 90s. (Yes, I just aged myself, lol.) I loved it so much and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a feel-good, heartfelt, and faith-filled romantic comedy. I can’t wait for book two!

Review: Aflame (Awakened Book 2) by Roseanna M. White

About the Book
In a land of fire and ice, love is considered a weakness.

Princess Valkyrja has always been deemed "pretty and useless" by her family, who rule the kingdom of Fjordlandi. Though she has the same magical Blessing over ice and snow as her brother, sister, and father, she can never seem to use it for the brute-force ruling they require, choosing instead to make art that makes her people smile. But when a horrific attack shakes their whole world, she has to step up...and find a strength she didn't know she had.

Nikanor has lived his life under the greenhouse domes, a commoner with no opportunities to do things he most desires—to study the Words or the law, to be something other than a farmer. When he and his best friend follow his father to the capital, he hopes only for a nice holiday. Instead, the attack throws him into the path of a princess, and his world is never the same.

But the Blessed aren't the only ones with magic in Fjordlandi. There are others already Awakened in the volcano, those called the Cursed, with lava in their veins and rebellion in their hearts. And once the fires of revolution ignite, they won't stop until all of Fjordlandi is Aflame.

MY THOUGHTS

Y’all! This book was so good! It exceeded all of my expectations. I loved Awakened, the first book in this series, and didn’t think there was any way it could be topped, but somehow, this book did! I loved it so much!

The worldbuilding was fantastic. The land of Fjordlandi was beautiful and fascinating. It felt so real.

I fell into the story, right alongside these wonderful characters. They really came to life. Kyrja was an endearing and likable heroine. I loved seeing her character growth, and I really loved seeing her faith in the Giver blossom. Nik was an easy character to root for. He faced quite a big change, and it was really interesting seeing him adapt to it.

I absolutely loved this book and am very eager for the next one in the series! If you’re a fan of the romantasy genre, don’t hesitate to grab a copy! You’ll love it! While this could be read as a standalone, I still recommend starting with Awakened.

I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

Review: The Restitching of Camille DuLaine (The Rivenlea Sphere Book 2) by Lindsay A. Franklin

About the Book
A splintered world, a heart gone cold. Hope reborn in threads of gold.

After accidentally bridging the storyworlds together, Emlyn DuLaine faces an impossible task: sever the connections without destroying the stories themselves. If she fails, the characters will be trapped in twisted versions of their tales, forced to relive their worst moments forever.

But undoing the bridges is only the beginning. To truly fix what’s unraveling, Emlyn must uncover the secret flaw buried deep in Rivenlea's foundation, something that's been wrong since the very start.

And the danger has never been closer to home. The clock is ticking for the injured wyvern who needs Rivenlite air to survive and the story boy Emlyn swore she’d never fall for. Emlyn and her team must rescue Frank and Laramie from chaotic, shifting story spheres before they’re gone for good.

But Frank and Laramie aren’t the only ones lost to the spheres. Camille DuLaine is a prisoner, held as bait by someone who knows exactly how to lure her sister in. After seven years of sleep, Camille wakes to find herself trapped in a storybook and sure of only one thing: Emlyn must stay far, far away.

Racing to solve one mind-bending puzzle after the next, Emlyn uncovers a plan seventeen years in the making. She stands at the center of a fractured universe—and she might be too late to save it.

MY THOUGHTS

What a fantastic conclusion to this duology! Enchanting, whimsical, full of humor and heart, I couldn’t read fast enough. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this sequel, and it did not disappoint. It was so much more than I ever could’ve imagined.

This is a book lover’s dream! I loved seeing all the classic tales mixed up. I won’t mention which ones, though. Part of the fun, for me at least, was trying to figure out which ones they were.

This was action-packed right from the start and full of twists and turns I never saw coming. There were several times I literally gasped out loud at the turn of events.

I didn’t know how everything could possibly wrap up, but it was an absolutely masterful conclusion. It exceeded all of my very high expectations. I know I’m gonna want to reread it again and again! I can’t recommend it highly enough! This is not a standalone, so be sure to pick up book one before starting this one.

About the Book

Review: Mists over the Channel Islands by Sarah Sundin

About the Book
Behind enemy lines, adversary and ally become impossible to distinguish.

The German invasion of the British Channel Islands shatters Dr. Ivy Picot's peaceful world, forcing her to shoulder the weight of her father's medical practice and hold together a family unraveling under the strain of war. As conditions worsen in Jersey with the arrival of thousands of forced laborers, Ivy's quiet allegiance to the Allies compels her to risk everything by providing medical aid to escaped workers--even as danger closes in.

Dutch engineer and resistance member Gerrit van der Zee volunteers to build fortifications for the Germans so he can secretly send maps and diagrams to the Allies. On his arrival in the Channel Islands, he crosses paths with Ivy, who shows him contempt for the uniform he wears. As tensions mount and their missions grow increasingly dangerous, Ivy and Gerrit must confront the cost of courage, the meaning of sacrifice, and whether love can survive in the shadow of war. Will their covert efforts turn the tide--or will they pay the ultimate price for defiance?

Renowned WWII fiction author Sarah Sundin crafts a compelling historical romance featuring enemies-to-lovers, wartime resistance, and medical intrigue--a tale of loyalty, resilience, and courage when love and duty collide.

MY THOUGHTS

I always look forward to a new book from Sarah Sundin. They’re always at the top of my most anticipated reads list. Nobody does WWII books like her, and Mists over the Channel Islands is Sundin at her finest. It exceeded all of my very high expectations.

It was really interesting to read about Jersey during WWII. I can’t believe I didn’t know more about what happened in the Channel Islands. It was fascinating.

I really liked Gerrit and Ivy. I admired Gerrit’s courage, strength, and heart. I enjoyed reading about Ivy being a doctor. And I really loved seeing her strong relationships with her brother and aunts and uncles. I really felt for her with the struggling relationship with her sister. It was heartbreaking to see the way Fern treated her.

This was an exciting read. There was plenty of suspense and some espionage and subterfuge too. I had a hard time putting it down when real life called. If you’re a fan of faith-filled, heartfelt, and entertaining WWII romances, grab a copy of this book. You will love it! I highly, highly recommend it.

Can't Wait Wednesday: Taming Lady Temperance (The Secret Society of Spinsters Book #1) by Karen Witemeyer

This week I'm featuring Taming Lady Temperance (The Secret Society of Spinsters Book #1) by Karen Witemeyer releasing February 17.

About the Book
When passion for justice conflicts with the heart, which will prevail?

Noreen O'Sullivan is an enthusiastic member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and believes herself called to defend the cause of prohibition. When she's invited to join the Secret Society of Spinsters, Noreen jumps at the chance to rally others to her movement and shut down the local saloon for good. However, her passionate campaigning often puts her at odds with the men around her--including the local deputy.

Deputy James Paxton believes in preserving the peace, but Miss O'Sullivan has been disturbing his peace for months. If James wants to be elected sheriff, he can't afford to be seen as her ally. But when Noreen ropes him into helping her plan a temperance march, their growing closeness sparks unexpected feelings. Then tensions escalate at the saloon and accusations fly. James must choose between upholding his badge and protecting the woman who's captured his heart--knowing either choice could cost him everything.

Karen Witemeyer presents a swoony Western romance with a determined heroine, cowboys, prohibition, and the rivals-to-lovers and duty vs. desire tropes. Fans of Mary Connealy and frontier romances set in the Old West will savor this clean, historical read.

Review: Atlas (Discarded Heroes: Scions Book 1) by Ronie Kendig

About the Book
Some hearts are worth fighting for—even when the battle comes home.

Olympic sharpshooter McKenna Neeley thought her biggest challenge was living up to her legendary father's legacy as Nightshade's team sniper. But working as a junior Consular Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, she's about to face her most perilous mission yet—and it has nothing to do with diplomacy.

When a high-stakes dinner party brings Dante Riddell back into her life, McKenna's carefully ordered world tilts off its axis. The brooding security specialist from Omen Tactical Group was her childhood crush, but now he's all grown up—and guarding secrets as closely as he guards his VIP clients.

Despite finally being claimed by his father as a teen, Dante has spent his life believing he isn’t worthy of the Nightshade legacy. When his duty collides with McKenna's consular work sparks fly and keeping their distance becomes impossible. She's everything he remembers and more—brilliant, compassionate, and dangerously distracting. His job is simple: complete the mission and walk away before his damaged heart gets involved.

But when a deadly enemy disrupts peace talks, simple plans shatter like glass.

Trapped together in a web of international intrigue, McKenna and Dante must trust each other—and God’s plan—forging a love that's been years in the making. Because sometimes the greatest battles aren't fought with weapons, but with faith, forgiveness, and the courage to believe in second chances.

Can two wounded hearts find healing in each other's arms, or will the shadows of their past destroy their chance at forever?

MY THOUGHTS

Y’all! This book was so good! I was so excited to dive back into Ronie Kendig’s military books. And I was so happy that this new series follows the grown-up kids of her characters from the Discarded Heroes series. I loved it so much!

I really liked McKenna and Dante. They had amazing chemistry, and while there was obvious attraction, there were many things preventing them from becoming anything more than friends. I was rooting them on the whole way through. They faced some really daunting and scary situations. I really admired McKenna's strength in the face of it all.

I appreciated the spotlight on Armenia. I didn’t know a whole lot about the country or the conflict with Azerbaijan.

Action-packed, with a lightning-fast pace and ever-increasing danger, this book was near impossible to put down. I loved it and am very much looking forward to the next book in the series. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-stakes, faith-filled romantic suspense.

I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

Review: The Road Unveiled (Bicycle Adventure) by Tim Bishop

About the Book
Two wounded hearts. Long, winding roads. And second chances neither saw coming.

Lauren Baumgartner pedals toward Yellowstone National Park, anticipating a grand celebration when she reaches the Atlantic Ocean. But when her wedding plans collapse, old wounds resurface—and a haunting secret still holds her heart hostage.

Traveling alone with bear spray and a one-woman tent, she shares the highway with motorcyclists bound for a massive rally, including gang members who eye her as theirs for the taking.

Doug Zimmer, another lone cyclist, is grappling with loss and wondering if anyone will be alongside him when he figures out what’s next. He isn’t the only one drawn to Lauren’s vitality and spirit.

But Lauren may already be in too deep. What she faces on the Golden Prairie Indian Reservation tests her courage—and her faith—more than anything she encountered as a missionary in Uganda.

A woman with a secret and a man healing from loss pedal the rugged roads of the American West on a quest for love and purpose that leads to unexpected horizons.

MY THOUGHTS

What an adventure! I didn’t realize this was book two in the series when I picked it up, so it took me a minute to get settled in, but once I did, I was hooked and eager to find out what would happen next!

The descriptions of the scenery were so vivid, I felt like I was traveling right alongside these characters. I could picture everything so clearly!

I liked Lauren and Doug. I also enjoyed getting to know the people they met along the way. Well, most of them. There were some not so nice people along the way too.

This book addresses serious topics through a Christian lens. There were times when I was so worried for the characters. But I was constantly rooting them on through it all. I did enjoy the first half of the book more than the second half. The drama became a bit too much for my liking. Also, there were times when things felt kinda unrealistic. But despite that, I enjoyed the writing style, and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Can't Wait Wednesday: Two Purloined Pillows (A Nimble Needle Mystery Book 2) by Allie Pleiter

About the Book
When 30-something graphic artist Shelby Phillips reluctantly returned to her small hometown outside Asheville, North Carolina to manage her mother’s needlepoint shop, she thought it was temporary. But getting entangled in murder investigations has a timeline of its own…

It’s been a little over a year since Shelby started managing Nina’s Nimble Needle following her office-romance and career implosion, and Shelby’s mom has finally handed her the reins—technically, at least. Next, Shelby is excited to oversee two well-known needlepoint designers who will be participating in the town’s first two-week-long arts festival . . .

Laura Bitters and Paul Bardo have each stitched up one-of-a-kind pillows that should be big wins for the Nimble Needle at the festival’s auction . . . until the pillows vanish amid a sudden string of shoplifting incidents.

To add to the knot in Shelby’s stomach, Laura proves highly anxious, while Paul is an egomaniac who believes Laura has been stealing his customers for years. But things go from bad to tragic when Laura behaves oddly at the auction dinner, then collapses—dead.

Soon after, Shelby makes a shocking discovery in Laura’s room at the local inn. Then tests reveal that Laura was poisoned. Resolved to piece together the truth, despite the police chief’s determination to keep her on the fringes, Shelby rallies her personal team, including her sister, Jessica, her friend Deb, and Jake, her potentially more than a friend. As an extra twist, a magazine reporter arrives with unsettling—yet useful—dirt that includes Laura and Paul.

What unravels is a skein of suspects, long-held resentment, bitter jealousy, and betrayal, from which Shelby will have to pull the one crucial thread tied to the killer: a murder-worthy motive . . .

Book Spotlight: Elisabeth and the other man by Adam Charles Hovey

What happens when you're the secret without knowing it? How does your life change? Are your friends who you thought they were?

Purchase Links: Paperback / Ebook

My friend released a book about a painful experience he recently went through. I was there to see the fallout of the situation, and am glad he was able to write about it. I’m excited to share his book with y’all today!

This was an incredibly compelling read. It was a heartbreaking read too. You could really feel the hurt and pain that this situation caused. I was tearing up several times. I was furious about what happened to my friend when it first happened. And I was furious again after reading this.

This is written in a very conversational and relatable way, which really invites you into the story. It's a real and honest look at the impact of emotional infidelity. And I highly, highly recommend checking it out!

There aren’t many resources for people who have been in similar situations, so I hope this book can be a catalyst for change, a conversation starter of sorts.

Review: Beyond the Clouds (The Women of Midtown) by Elizabeth Camden

About the Book
They lost each other once before; now the clouds of war may give them a second chance.

As teenagers, Delia Byrne and Finn Delaney fell in love while flying kites and dreaming of a future together--until betrayal tore them apart. Now, as America enters World War I, Delia works for peace as a paralegal and pacifist. Her values forbid her from supporting the war effort, but she volunteers for a relief organization trying to save millions of lives in famine-stricken Belgium.

Returning to America as a decorated war hero, Finn is eager to get back to the front but is assigned to use his fame to raise funds instead. To his surprise, this mission will bring him face-to-face with Delia, the only woman he ever loved and once hoped to marry. As their shared mission draws them together, old sparks of romance begin to stir--until duty sends them behind enemy lines in occupied Belgium. Will the greatest danger be the conflict raging around them--or the possibility of falling in love again?

MY THOUGHTS

I always look forward to a new book from Elizabeth Camden. Her books never disappoint, and I always learn something new and interesting about history. I didn’t think this book could top the previous one, but it did. I loved it so much!

I wouldn’t say that Finn and Delia were very likable at the beginning of the story. Finn was quite arrogant, and Delia’s attitude and pursuit of a relationship with her much older boss were off-putting. But that didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the story one bit. In fact, as the story progressed, and I got to know them better, and as they experienced growth, they became some of my favorite characters I've read about in a long time.

It was interesting to see what it was like in Belgium during WWI. I had no idea! I also enjoyed the fact that Herbert Hoover was a character in the story. I didn’t know much about him before his presidency, so I appreciated learning more about him.

I loved seeing characters from the previous books and catching up with them a little bit. But even if you haven’t read the first two books, this can be read as a standalone perfectly fine.

This book gets a huge recommendation from me. It’s going on my favorites shelf. I loved it so much and can’t wait to see what Camden writes next.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

Can't Wait Wednesday: The Star-Blessed by Angie Dickinson

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings that spotlights and discusses the books we're excited about that we've yet to read. Generally, they're books that are yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This week I'm featuring The Star-Blessed by Angie Dickinson releasing March 17.

About the Book
Three legendary origins of power. Two royal bloodlines. One deadly curse.

The kingdom of Stelauris is slowly dying. A season of poison infects the air, earth, and water with increasing deadliness each year, and a deep love of gold and power infects the failing mind of the king. His only daughter and first in line to the throne, Princess Seren, lives in tightly controlled isolation. When she is suddenly thrust into royal society, she struggles to hide the strain of untamed magic awakening in her blood.

Seren’s newly appointed personal guard, Sir Corin, resents the exile of his people. As heir to a long-banished line of succession and the last of the land’s legendary protectors, he holds no loyalty for the current royal family and their history of unhinged cruelty.

As death steals over the kingdom and the schemes at court grow deadlier, the princess and the guard are forced to face their fears, their troubled pasts, and the cost of personal freedom.

The Star-Blessed is a reimagining and reinventing of two fairy tales: “Rumpelstiltskin” and “Cat-Skin” by the Brothers Grimm.
