MY THOUGHTS
To say Riley had a lot on her plate is an understatement. She's a widowed single mother of two kids and is dealing with the aftereffects of her husband's bad choices and then his murder, all while wondering if she's going crazy like her mother did. She's barely hanging on, doing the best she can but worrying that it's not enough. I really felt for her. It was like she couldn't catch a break, and things just kept piling up on her.
This story tackles some serious topics - mental illness and human trafficking. It's hard to read about sometimes, but I appreciated the light being shined on these topics. It's much needed.
There wasn't a lot of romance, but what little there was felt forced and sorta out of the blue. But other than that, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more in this series. Especially after that doozy of an ending!
FOUR STARS
Poor Riley...to think that you might be going crazy...that would be so scary.
