This week I'm featuring Savaged (The Lost Sovereign Book 4) by Anna Hawke. I'm just a little past halfway into this ARC and am loving it!
Lark spent her life unwanted—until her tyrant father decides to make her an unwilling assassin. Bound by his magic and sent into enemy territory, she expects death. Instead, she finds herself at the mercy of the man she’s been ordered to kill. The powerful leader proves she’s safe with him, but he’ll never truly be safe with her.
Roman leads the rebellion against the ruler destroying their society. When the tyrant’s daughter appears at his border, turning her away could cost him critical intelligence. The secretive woman intrigues him, but keeping her could cost him everything. Her presence is a liability to his people—and a temptation he can’t ignore.
Even if Lark can break the compulsion that binds her, the true battle is yet to come. Will their desire deepen into a love that survives their traumatic past—or dooms their future?
Book Beginnings / First Line Friday
The quaint coffee shop was filled with guests and laughter, nearly every table full.

Being wholly at the mercy of another had happened so quickly.
What have you been reading lately?

A character named Lark? I think this just became a must-read for me. ;D
ReplyDeleteI immediately thought of you when I saw the character's name. It's so cool! :D
DeleteThere seems to be a wild disconnect between that cover image and the first line. I kind of love how "ordinary" it begins!
ReplyDeleteRight? I liked the ordinary beginning too. It was unexpected! Things definitely get intense later on though! :D
DeleteI had to snicker. As I was clicking on the link to open up your post I wondered to myself if there would be a dog, specifically a German Shepherd, on the cover. Nope. But there is an animal. Do I get points for that? Is the tiger a part of the story. I can't tell from the blurbs. Have a fun weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely get points for that! One of the main characters is a tiger shifter.
DeleteAn intriguing plot!
ReplyDeleteIt is! I loved it! :D
DeleteHave a beautiful Easter. Hugs. xx.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I hope you had a beautiful Easter too! :D
DeleteOoh, this sounds exciting. I just finished a romantic suspense Captivation Creek. Posting the review soon.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I'm looking forward to reading your review! :D
